Hearing the Call — Central Texas

Hearing the Call Central Texas was founded to bring the gift of hearing to under-served individuals and families in our community. Too often, hearing loss creates barriers to education, employment, relationships and overall well-being. Through local volunteers, donors and hearing healthcare professionals, we provide access to life-changing hearing care that many would otherwise be unable to afford.

Our work is rooted in compassion, dignity and empowerment — helping people reconnect with loved ones, engage fully in life and discover new opportunities. Together, we are breaking the silence for Central Texans in need.

The need

1 in 5 Americans has hearing loss to an extent that interferes with communication. No one should miss out on participating fully in life because of hearing loss. Untreated hearing loss has a devastating impact on individuals, families and communities — and Medicare does not cover the cost of treating hearing loss, nor do many health insurance plans.

Our give-back model

Qualified participants take part in a simple give-back model as a way to say thank you to the local companies, families and friends who donate for their care:

  • Show proof of financial need
  • Pay a small fee for hearing devices
  • Give back volunteer hours in the community
