The complaint we hear most in Lakeway

It is rarely a diagnosis. It is a person in their fifties or sixties whose annual physical came back unremarkable, who is still waking up tired, losing grip strength, and noticing that recovery from a hard round of golf or a long day on the boat now takes two days instead of one.

Standard primary care is not built to solve that. A twelve-minute appointment can catch disease; it cannot rebuild sleep, protein intake, strength and stress load. That gap is what wellness coaching fills, and it is why our first visit runs closer to forty-five minutes than twelve.

We are explicit about our lane. Coaching is educational and supportive — it does not diagnose or treat disease, and it works best alongside the physician you already see rather than instead of them. When something in your history or labs belongs with a clinician, we say so and send a written summary to their office when you authorise it.

Healthy aging is a strength and balance problem

For adults over fifty, the two measurements that predict the next decade best are not weight and BMI. They are lean muscle mass and balance. Muscle drives metabolism, blood sugar handling and independence; balance decides whether a stumble is a story or a hospital stay.

So Lakeway clients typically start with an InBody scan and a BTrackS balance assessment. Both produce a number, both can be repeated in ten weeks, and both make an abstract goal like aging well into something you can actually see move.

From there the routine is unglamorous and effective: enough protein at breakfast, two strength sessions a week that you will genuinely do, a walking floor, and sleep treated as a training input rather than leftover time. Clients who want more depth add VO2 max testing or functional labs, but nobody is required to.

What Lakeway wellness coaching covers

  • Energy and sleep

Where fatigue is coming from — timing, sleep quality, blood sugar swings or under-eating protein early in the day.

  • Strength and lean mass

InBody scans plus a training floor you can hold year-round, not a twelve-week push.

  • Balance and fall risk

Objective BTrackS force-plate testing with a stability plan when the score warrants it.

  • Metabolic markers

A1c, fasting insulin, lipids and thyroid reviewed in plain language, with a retest date.

  • Travel-proof routines

A stripped-down version of your plan for weeks away, so momentum survives the trip.

  • Coordination with your physician

Written summaries to your doctor's office whenever you ask us to send them.

Your first ten weeks

  1. Step 1

    Consultation

A free conversation about what changed, when, and what you want back.

  2. Step 2

    Baseline

InBody, balance testing and any labs worth reviewing first.

  3. Step 3

    Build the floor

Protein, two strength sessions and a sleep window — held for six weeks.

  4. Step 4

    Retest

Repeat the same measurements and adjust based on what actually moved.

Questions

Lakeway wellness coaching FAQs

Ages we work with, what coaching is not, and how visits fit around travel.

Is wellness coaching only for people trying to lose weight?
No. A large share of our Lakeway clients are not chasing a weight number at all — they want steadier energy, more strength, better balance and metabolic markers that stop drifting. Body composition still gets measured, but the goal is set by you.
I travel for months at a time. Does that rule me out?
It does not. Coaching visits, lab reviews and program adjustments run by secure video, and we build a deliberately smaller travel version of your routine — protein floor, two bodyweight sessions, a walking target — so you return to a plan instead of a restart.
What is the difference between this and seeing my primary care doctor?
Your physician diagnoses and treats; we coach the daily behaviour behind your numbers and see you far more often. Coaching is educational and supportive, not medical care, and the two work best in parallel — which is why we send visit summaries to your doctor on request.
Do you work with adults over seventy?
Regularly. For that group we lead with balance testing, grip and lean-mass measurement, and a strength routine scaled to current ability, and we coordinate closely with any clinician managing medications or cardiac limits.
How long do people typically stay in coaching?
Most Lakeway clients commit to an initial three months, which is long enough to retest and see whether the plan is working, then move to a lighter monthly cadence. Some stay on that cadence for years; others graduate and return for an annual measurement round.
