Coach guiding an adult through a strength exercise in a bright fitness studio

Healthy aging, in plain terms

Healthy aging — often called healthspan — means adding years of good function, not just years. Research points to a handful of measurable areas: muscle strength, cardiorespiratory fitness (VO₂ max), balance, metabolic health, sleep, social connection, and brain and hearing health.

Each of these can be measured and improved. Our coaching approach is simple: take a baseline, work on two or three habits that matter most to you, and re-measure so you can see the change.

We are a health coaching practice, not a medical clinic. We work alongside your physician and keep hearing care with our separate Victory Hearing & Balance practice.

Six areas of healthy aging we coach

Each area links to the page that covers it in depth.

  • Strength and muscle

Adults lose muscle every decade after about 30, and faster after 60. Regular strength training is one of the best-supported ways to stay independent.

  • Cardiorespiratory fitness

VO₂ max is one of the strongest measurable markers linked to long-term health. Knowing yours lets you train with purpose.

  • Balance and fall prevention

Falls are a leading cause of injury in older adults. Balance can be measured and trained at any age.

  • Brain health

Exercise, sleep, social connection and hearing all relate to cognitive health. A baseline screen helps you notice change over time.

  • Hearing and the senses

Untreated hearing loss is linked with social isolation and cognitive decline. Our sister practice, Victory Hearing & Balance, handles hearing care.

  • Community classes and Medicare

Group classes add movement and connection. Many Medicare Advantage and some Supplement plans include SilverSneakers at no added cost.

Questions

Healthy aging questions

What does healthy aging coaching include?
Healthy aging coaching focuses on the habits most linked to independence and quality of life: strength training, cardiorespiratory fitness, balance, nutrition with enough protein, sleep, social connection and brain and hearing health. We measure a baseline, coach a few habits and re-measure.
Is it too late to start strength training after 60?
No. Studies show adults in their 70s, 80s and beyond can build strength and muscle with supervised, progressive training. We start at your current level and progress gradually.
Does Medicare cover healthy aging classes at Victory?
Many Medicare Advantage plans and some Medicare Supplement plans include SilverSneakers, which can make our SilverSneakers classes available at no added cost. Eligibility depends on your specific plan, so check with your plan or use the SilverSneakers eligibility tool.
Which assessment should an older adult start with?
For most people a balance and fall-risk assessment or an InBody scan is the most useful first step. Active adults who want a fitness benchmark often add VO₂ max testing. A free consultation helps you choose.
Is this medical care?
No. Victory Health & Wellness provides health coaching and education. We do not diagnose or manage medications, and we encourage you to keep your physician informed of new exercise routines.
